Belleville.

Had drinks in the 20th arrondisement with a couple of friends the other night.

Its an arrondisement of gentrification, so although its a rougher area known for its multi culturalism, its increasingly popular and definitely the place to go for a couple of drinks.

Its one of my favourite places because you get to see a different, diverse side to Paris. This bar we went to has super cheap drinks and one of the more interesting clientele's I've seen. The homeless freely enter inside the bar and ask you for money to eat or buy alcohol (the latter more honest) and the illegal immigrants (or so I'm guessing) wander around with bunches of fake roses, asking if you want to buy one for your 'amour'.

Of course, we politely declined.

This graffiti wall is very Banksy-ish. It lines the whole rue with crazy images and says 'omg you're freaking me out' written all over the wall.

Finally.

Today I received an email about the OFII procedure that confirms my French visa. Yeah, been in the country for over 3 months and still not technically 'legal'.

Apparently I have to get examined, weighed (the poor people who's scales I'm going to break), measured, take my top off, get chest x-rays (apparently the threat of tuberculosis is rife here) and pay another significant sum of money.

The good news is it happens to coincide around my travels out of Paris, halting no plans and I finally have my passport (actually 3 now, got a bit of a fright to see my 9 year old self staring back in a plaid shirt).

Not only that, but it means that my planned travel out of France and around Europe and afar in January can be done without any worries as coming back into the country will be legal. Bonus.

I had been warned that the French systems were slow, I didn't realise that visa's were handed out as often as Santa delivered his presents.

Next time I'll just ask for one in my stocking.

The end is nigh.

Last week of classes at school! Oh la la time has flown by. Can't believe I've done 10 weeks of school already.

If only I could get these 4 essays, an exam and an oral out of the way and I'll be finished!

Bring on a month of solid traveling....

This photo is the toll that Sciences Po study took on my poor flatmate. I did warn her that studying till 5.30am was a bad idea.

My favourite place in the South of France.

Iles du Frioul is hands down the most amazing place I experienced on my escapades around the South of France. It was a 30 minute boat ride off the coast from Marseille and we were blessed we could even go. The boats don't run in rain, wind, or pretty much whenever they feel like it and we managed to catch them at the right time. The next (last) day we were in Marseille it poured down.

It is too amazing to describe and the photo's don't go anywhere near doing them justice (this could be due to the fact I am retarded at taking photos). It was like being in a mix of Greece, Morocco, Italy with a bit of France chucked in between.

It is actually made up of two separate islands joined by a man made causeway and people actually live on one! It would be the most spectacular place in the world to live.

We walked all over the place, following our noses and getting in lost in the pure beauty of a paradise appearing almost untouched by human hands. There were no direct pathways but nothing was out of bounds, the whole place was like a vantage point for the most incredible views you thought didn't exist. The colour of everything was so bright it was like being in a drug induced techni-colour wonderland, afraid to take your eyes of it for fear of missing something. We managed to time it absolutely perfectly and were meandering endlessly as the sun was beginning to set, casting a shadow of luminosity against the stark contrast of rocky outcrops.

It was hard to leave on the last boat of the evening, turning my back on a land of sparse beauty, a glorious break from the hustle and bustle of big city Paris and almost freezing my noodles off on the trip back.

Umbrella and me.

Explanation for extended absence.

Currently hermit trying to complete 3 oral presentations and five 10-15 page essays....

With a bit of wining and dining and clubbing until the sun rises slotted in between.

S'il vous plait m'excuse mon corps. Je dormirai quand je mort. Actuellement il n'est pas possible.
